Victor Banev is a Russian writer who lives in the USA. Searching for his daughter, he goes to Tashlinsk, a ghost town which experiences a radical change of climate, having its territory flooded. Among the students of a school for gifted children — run by a group of bizarre teachers — is Victor’s daughter. The writer starts his own investigation on the uncanny situation of Tashlinsk, in a struggle not only to save the children of the school, but also to shape the path humankind will choose to follow. Based on the famous novel by the brothers Arkady and Boris Strugatsky.
