The 2022 edition of the flagship Brazilian-style event spread wealth among several style features.

Fantaspoa XVIII, held April 15–May 1 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, screened 188 films in theaters and virtually, with over 40 filmmaker Q&As and other events. Full list of festival award winners:

International Competition (Jury Members: Diego Faraone, Matthias Marchetti, and Fernando Sanchez)
best movie: Grief (pictured above; Rob Jabbaz)
Best Direction: Kirill Sokolov (no looking back)
Best Actress: Christina Ricci (Monster)
best Actor: George Webster (God is loving you)
Best Screenplay: Lorenz Merz (Spirit of an animal)
Best Art Direction: Stephen Lernes (Hotel Poseidon)
Best Special Effects: Victor Chang (Grief)

Honorable mention
Best Newcomer Actress: Sofia Krugova (No Looking Back)
best blood (and crap) Bathing: Lucas Rinker (holy crap!)
Best Ensemble: Vincent Grashaw (What Josiah Saw)

Brazilian Feature Film Competition (Jury Members: Florencia Franco, Nicanor Loretti, and Jimena Monteliva)
best movie: EX AEQUO–Jesus KID (Aly Muritiba) and SUBJECT (Léo Falcão)
honorable mention: City of the Abyss (Priscilla Betim and Renato Coelho), for its aesthetic originality.

Curso Teórico
O VIII Fantaspoa realizará o curso O cinema de horror e ficção científica norte-americano: de Roger Corman à Troma e muito, muito além, ministrado pelo jornalista e pesquisador Carlos Primati.
Demons Divas
A exposição será exibida pela primeira vez no VIII Fantaspoa. Local: Sindicato dos Bancários (Rua General Câmara 424, Centro, Porto Alegre). Visitação: 05 a 31 de maio de 2012, das 9h às 18h.

Os ingressos para o Fantaspoa possuem um preço único de R$5,00 (cinco reais).
Os ingressos para o Cine Santander podem ser comprados com antecedência.
As demais salas (Cine Bancários, Sala Eduardo Hirtz e Sala Paulo Amorim) começam a vender os ingressos 30 minutos antes da exibição.
